Catau's Little Yellow Stone Fly
Unverified origin Catau's career is documented by Deschaine, but the pattern and its 1960s date come only from the Michigan Dry Flies archive.
History
This small yellow stonefly dry is one of Dan Catau's own patterns, dated by the Michigan Dry Flies archive to the 1960s. It has a yellow body, a trude-style wood duck wing laid over the back and a full collar of brown hackle.
Catau later became a busy professional tyer whose customers included William Conrad and Jack Nicklaus, and in 1999 he published a book on Michigan Hex fishing.
