Easy Hex
Likely origin The archive card and Deschaine's 2009 Fly Anglers Online column agree on Neve, but both come from Deschaine and give no date.
History
Jay Neve, a commercial tyer from Bellevue, came up with this simple Hex dry, and Tom Deschaine recommended it as a first pattern for beginners.
The hackle is trimmed to suit the stage: level with the hook point for a dun, and nearly to the shank for the spinner fall. Deschaine found it very effective during the Hex hatch on the South Branch of the Au Sable.
