modern Michigan dry fly · 1990s
Fred's Sulphur Spinner
Unverified origin Only the Michigan Dry Flies archive describes the fly; a public source confirms only that Vargas is an active Michigan tyer.
History
The Michigan Dry Flies archive credits this sulphur spinner to Fred Vargas of Whitehall, who taught tying classes at Great Lakes Fly Fishing Co. in Rockford during the 1990s.
A 2014 blog report confirms Vargas was among the tyers at the Grand River Area Tyers' Celebration of Tying in Grand Rapids, but no public source found describes this fly or his teaching role.
