classic Michigan dry fly · date unknown (Halladay's main tying years were about 1920 to 1930)
Michigamme
Unverified origin Only source is one Deschaine column built on Halladay family information.
History
The Michigamme is a Len Halladay dry with a gray wool body, spent natural deer-hair wings, a tail of two grizzly hackle tips and the same two-brown-to-one-grizzly hackle mix he used on the Hair Stone. Tom Deschaine took the body to be the same gray wool as the Adams.
How it got its name is not known. Deschaine guessed it honored one of Halladay's regular clients, though Michigamme is also the name of a small town and a lake in the Upper Peninsula. No date is recorded.
