modern Michigan dry fly · early 1980s
Tent Wing Caddis
Also called Rockwood's Tent Wing Caddis
Unverified origin Rockwood is documented, but only the Michigan Dry Flies archive ties him to this fly and its date.
History
The Michigan Dry Flies archive credits this caddis to Al Rockwood of Muskegon in the early 1980s. Tom Deschaine documented Rockwood and his mail-order business, Flies for Michigan, but no public source found so far describes this fly.
The fly as described uses a wing cut from plastic sheet and colored with marker to suggest the mottling of a real caddis wing, folded like a tent over a ginger body. Tent-wing caddis made from sheet or film are a common type, so the name alone does not identify Rockwood's version.
