Lady Jo Caddis

Likely origin Card and Deschaine's 2011 Fly Anglers Online column on Jo's flies agree on tyer and decade, but both come through Deschaine; the recipe rests on Roller's information.

History

Josephine Sedlecky-Borsum, who ran Ed's Sport Shop in Baldwin from 1945 to 1992, developed the Lady Jo Caddis in the 1950s. Despite its name it was a Hex fly, fished at night in big sizes; smaller ones served as daytime searching flies.

The archive's dressing came from David Roller, who worked for her from 1979 to 1986, and the sample fly was tied by Josephine herself.
