Maddin's Scorpion Hex

Also called Scorpion Hex

Unverified origin One source: The Northern Angler's 2020 tutorial, where Maddin ties it. No design date or story found.

History

A big deer-hair Hex dry that Maddin tied for the public at the Flies at The Franklin tying night in January 2020. The Northern Angler, which hosted the video, noted that he usually keeps his patterns to himself.

It goes on the Ahrex FW570, a hook Maddin helped Ahrex design for oversized dries. He wanted a wider gap and a bigger eye than standard dry hooks so that a large night-feeding brown would not straighten or snap it.
