Michigan Caddis II
Also called Koernke's Michigan Caddis
Unverified origin Only the Michigan Dry Flies archive card supports the tyer, place and date; no independent source was found. The recipe is a reconstruction from a sample fly.
History
Bill Koernke tied this big deer-hair parachute for the Hex hatch while he ran Bill's Fly Shop near Grayling in the 1980s and 1990s. It has a yellow deer-hair underbody under a natural deer-hair overbody, a white wing post and a mixed grizzly and brown parachute hackle.
Koernke's own recipe does not survive. Tom Deschaine worked out the dressing by taking apart an original fly under a microscope, and says the family did not answer his requests for more information.
